Overview 2002 Lexus IS300 Base
There have been several award-winning cars from Lexus over the years, including the Lexus IS300 of 2002. There are two trim levels to the IS300, including Base and Sportcross. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2001 the popular 3.0 liter has made this a popular choice for sedan buyers nationwide.
2002 Lexus IS300 Base Specs
The restyled IS300 Base is equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2001 version.
The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The IS300 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.
The fuel system for the 2002 IS300 is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 17.50 gallons.

In 2001 and 2002 the IS300 Base was availble in the exterior colors of Absolutely Red, Black Onyx, Cibola Gold Metallic, Crystal White, Electric Green Mica, Graphite Gray Pearl, Intensa Blue Pearl, Millennium Silver Metallic, and Solar Yellow. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.

There are several reasons why the Lexus IS300 Base sold well in 2002. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Lexus, specifically a IS300.
