A high point in the sedan market is the Lexus LS400. In 1991 Lexus rolled out an upgraded version of the LS400 with one versions: Base. Sales for the LS400, especially the LS400 Base, were brisk during 1991 and 1992. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.
The 1995 LS400 is an important vehicle to Lexus for the sedan market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the LS400 which include Base. The four-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Lexus. There is strong competition from vehicles from Nissan.
