The restyled IS300 Base is equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2002 version.
In 2003 Lexus released the IS300 Sportcross to the car-buying market. The IS300 came in two configurations: Base and Sportcross. The Sportcross configuration is powered by the 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 25 highway miles and 18 city. The IS300 competes in the Wagon market segment, in direct competition with Toyota.
There have been several award-winning trucks from Lexus over the years, including the Lexus GX470 of 2003. There are one trim levels to the GX470, including Base. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2002 the popular 4.7 liter has made this a popular choice for sport utility buyers nationwide.

Sales for the GS430, especially the GS430 Base, were brisk during 2003 and 2004. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.
